This is the record-release show for Eric's new album, Cartes Postales, a sublime collection of eleven French songs from the 1920s through the 2000s. Finally exploring his family's musical tree, Eric is honoring his late French father with this album of songs originally recorded by Django Reinhardt, Charles Trenet, Lucienne Boyer, Henri Salvador, Georges Ulmer, and more.
Eric called on one of the most extraordinary musical talents of our time, Rory Hoffman, to create Cartes Postales. Rory is a blind multi-instrumentalist whose facility with nearly any instrument you can name -- and with nearly any musical style you can name -- made him the obvious choice for the album. Layering track upon track of gypsy guitar, clarinet, accordion, piano, saxophone, banjo, harmonica, and more, Rory created an spectacular musical landscape, alongside bassist Mark Fain and drummer Lynn Williams.
Performing these songs live on Nov. 11 required putting together a band, and because Nashville is Nashville, it wasn't hard to round up a world-class combo:
Guitarist Austin Filingo, accordionist/pianist Jeff Lisenby, drummer Josh Hunt, and bassist Mark Fain will be joining Eric and Rory on the Backstage of 3rd & Lindsley, Sat. Nov. 11 from 6 to 7:30 pm.
