Eric here... you know that Peter Cooper guy? That tall fellow with a good head of hair that I'm frequently singing with? He just made big news here in Music City by changing jobs. (He's one of the only people I know who gets news stories written about him and press releases released about him just because he changes jobs.)
What's the big news? It's this: Peter Cooper will be leaving The Tennessean newspaper soon to become "Writer/Editor" at the Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum. He's been writing some of the best music journalism in the country for the past 14 years at The Tennessean, and we've all been lucky to have him to read every couple of days. He's pretty much the only reason I subscribe to The Tennessean (even though I usually get to read early drafts of his columns when we're out on the road and he's writing on his computer as I drive)...
The Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum has done the smartest thing in its institutional history by hiring Peter. He is so damn smart and has so many ideas and knows the entire history of country music better than anyone I've ever met (hell, he is professor of country music history at Vanderbilt for cryin' out loud)... He's going to be a dynamo over there and I couldn't be happier for him or for them. And he promises me that even with his big, fancy new job, he'll still be able to hit the road so we can keep singing to our dozens of fans all over the place. Good on ya, Cooper.
